The Colonial Room

The Colonial Room covers a turbulent time in the 18th century. The first steps taken toward western expansion began in the late 17th century with the eastern traders from Pennsylvania and Virginia in their quest for furs and hides. This room features a broad area of interests that include native peoples, trade, tools, clothing, and common frontier life and tradition.

What affected the people of the Monongahela River Valley was a primer for those who would venture west in the years to come.  The outline of westward exploration and settlement of the frontier was written here in Northern Virginia/Southwestern Pennsylvania.
